About Stephen
- What kind of experience do you have?
I work full time as a cover supervisor at North Bridge House Independent School in Camden, where I support pupils in a variety of academic and creative subjects. Each week I tutor two primary school pupils in Maths and English and run a weekly air-fix model making club within school. Last year I worked as a one to one support assistant for a year 4 autistic pupil at Thomas Fairchild Primary School in Angel. I provided specialist daily support in literacy and numeracy sessions and worked to develop social interaction skills through activities such as lego therapy and playground games. Throughout the week I supported the lower ability pupils with Maths and English work and I led exciting Art lessons for year 4 pupils where I taught drawing and painting techniques and model making.
I have worked as a Primary teaching assistant in Suffolk from reception to year 5, supporting pupils with reading, handwriting, numeracy and leading P.E sessions. I have experience coordinating and leading sculpture workshops for GCSE and A Level pupils in private and state schools in Suffolk. Here I gave additional portfolio support for students looking to apply for Art school and technical support in sculpting and installation for pupils that were working towards a final piece.
After Art school I furthered my practical knowledge of Art whilst living in Melbourne and Sydney for two years. I gained extensive experience working as a set builder for a leading theatre company, a sculpture technician, and assistant carpenter for a design and fabrication business. I have also worked as an Art handler for Christie's Auction house.

- Tell me about some of your current students.
I am currently tutoring a year 3 pupil called Ben in Maths and English, in preparation for his 11+ exams. In Maths I cover a range of mental maths problems and step by step strategies to solve them. I always introduce a new topic each week such as short division to provide Ben with a head start in his learning. I adapt each lesson to focus on areas for improvement such as verbal reasoning or grammar and end each session with a fun creative writing task. Using the Bond book range as a framework for his learning I construct each lesson with my own illustrations and sourced materials to provide an engaging session for each pupil.
