Mabuhay! I’m Sy, your future favorite tutor with a passion for education and a knack for making lessons fun and memorable. With years of teaching experience, I specialize in turning confusion into ‘aha!’ moments faster than you can say 'nakakapagpabagabag' (worrisome) When I’m not helping students master Tagalog, you’ll find me attempting to cook recipes that look nothing like the photos or binge-watching documentaries to sound smarter than I am. Learning Tagalog doesn’t have to feel like solving a Rubik’s cube blindfolded—I make it fun, simple, and practical. My teaching style is conversational, with plenty of real-life examples (yes, even how to order Jollibee like a pro). Grammar? Don’t worry, I break it down so painlessly you might actually enjoy it.
A typical lesson goes like this: we start with a quick warm-up (think of it as “Tagalog stretches”), then dive into new words or grammar explained in plain English. We practice with roleplays—whether it’s asking directions, chatting with a Filipino friend, or surviving small talk with your tita at a family party. By the end, you’ll have something useful to say outside of “Mabuhay!” and “Salamat po.”
What sets me apart? I keep things clear, funny, and culturally real. I’ll teach you not just what to say, but when not to say it—like why calling someone “ate” or “kuya” could get you free food, but calling your crush “kuya” might kill your chances forever.
My lessons are for beginners, heritage learners, travelers, or anyone brave enough to wrestle with the quirks of Filipino language and culture. Whether you’re preparing for a trip, reconnecting with your roots, or just trying to impress a Filipino friend (or crush), I’ll make sure you learn useful Tagalog—and laugh while you’re at it.
