About Louis
I'm an engaged and friendly student, just finished my A-Levels. I am predicted three A*s, in Maths, English Literature and Geography. I also achieved ten grade 9s at GCSE - the highest possible - and was Head Boy at my school, City of London School. I am a very keen writer, and was the editor of my school newspaper, 'The Citizen', for which I was Highly Commended at the Shine School Media Awards. I've won numerous essay prizes, and won the school academic prize for English Literature in Year 11 (for best GCSE performance) and Year 12. I have lots of experience working with young people at my youth movement JLGB, and have also spent time volunteering as a tutor for IntoUniversity. In the past, I have tutored in maths from Year 7 to Year 11 (ages 11-16).

I plan discussion-based lessons, supporting my tutees in thinking for themselves and developing their own skills, so that they are well-equipped when they get into the exam hall. If I am helping out with creative writing, I like to do entertaining brainstorming exercises, creating scenes in our heads and working on how to map that onto the page. If I am helping with essay writing, we will start with in-depth discussions about themes and characters, to boost understanding of the text at hand. Depending on age and requirement, we can have a go at exam-style questions, work through more engaging tasks together, and even stretch beyond the classroom. The bottom line is that lessons must always be varied, fun and engaging, as this is the most productive way to learn! I'm very happy to help with Year 7 Covid catch-up on lost learning, to Year 10/11 preparation for GCSE exams, to help with A Level courses, and everything in between!

Louis is a great mathematician having gained a 9 at GCSE and predicted an A* at A-level. He’s creative and engaging in his tutoring approach and is trustworthy and reliable.
Louis has previously tutored me in maths, English and geography when I was doing my GCSEs. He was really dedicated and always tailored his lessons to areas that he knew I struggled with, meaning I quickly saw improvements in my tests at school. He was really committed and would work around sports matches I had to ensure I still had my lessons each week. As Louis loved the subjects he taught me, he was always very enthusiastic which made me enjoy these subjects more as well (which I didn’t like that much before!). I would really recommend him!
Louis is a very relatable and encouraging tutor who has exceptional communication skills. He is very patient and has a wealth of subject knowledge so is able to break down and explain methods coherently.
Louis is a natural teacher and is very committed to giving the highest quality lessons that he can provide. He is brilliant at explaining complicated topics and has all the patience in the world. He also makes the lessons interesting and fun, and spends lots of time creating useful resources.
Louis is prolific in his A level knowledge at Maths, English and Geography. He is also an absolute natural at making learning feel easy and also fun
