About Lucy
Hello, my name is Lucy and I’m a secondary school teacher with over six years of experience working in a large mixed comprehensive school in the UK. My specialist subject is Drama and Theatre Studies, and I also teach English. I’m highly experienced with the Edexcel exam board and enjoy supporting students to build both confidence and strong exam skills.
I’m genuinely passionate about education and believe learning should be engaging, creative, and supportive. I strive to create a positive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, exploring ideas, and developing a real love for their subjects. Helping students grow academically and personally is the most rewarding part of my role.
Outside of teaching, I love spending time outdoors, reading widely, and attending the theatre whenever I can. I’m also a qualified yoga teacher, which influences my calm, patient approach and focus on wellbeing alongside academic success.

My approach to tutoring is supportive, structured, and personalised. I tailor each lesson to the individual student’s needs, goals, and learning style, ensuring they feel confident and engaged in an online setting. Lessons are carefully planned with clear objectives and focus on building understanding step by step, whether we are developing subject knowledge, practical skills, or exam technique.
I use a student-centred methodology that combines discussion, guided practice, and targeted feedback. For Drama and Theatre Studies, this includes exploring performance skills, practitioner theory, and developing strong written responses. For English, lessons focus on reading comprehension, essay structure, language analysis, and exam preparation. I place a strong emphasis on Edexcel exam requirements and revision strategies, helping students feel well-prepared and confident.
Lessons typically last 50–60 minutes, allowing enough time for focused learning, practice, and reflection without feeling overwhelming. I am a fully qualified secondary school teacher with a PGCE in Drama and a BA in Drama and Theatre Studies, and I have over six years’ experience teaching in a UK comprehensive school, as well as supporting students through online tuition.
My lessons are suitable for students aged 11–18, including Key Stage 3, GCSE, and A Level learners. I also support students who are building confidence, preparing for exams, or seeking targeted support in Drama, Theatre Studies, or English.
