About Gabriella
Hi there!
Just a little bit about me:
My name is Gabriella, I am an 18 year old currently on my gap year exploring the world and traveling to strange and new places. I will be attending the University of Nottingham next year to study Geography.
Education & Achievements:
I studied GCSEs at Oxford High School (OHS) and A-levels at Magdalen College School (MCS) where I was also deputy head girl, a sports scholar and the 1st XI hockey captain. Over that time I obtained 10 GCSEs (all As and A*s) in Maths, Combined Science, English Language, English Literature, Geography, Religious Studies, Mandarin, Latin and French. I also achieved 3 A-levels in Geography, English Literature and Religious Studies as well as AS level French. At MCS, I was also an editor for the school's magazine which involved daily meetings and editing.
In terms of my teaching:
While I have no teaching "degree", I am experienced, having tutored, and still tutor, my younger brother (now 15, doing the GCSE course) in Maths, Science, English, Geography, French and Latin. Apart from him, I also have tutored my twin cousins (now 11) in common entrance exams, interview practice and KS level subjects. My older brother (now 20) is also an online tutor.
At MCS, I was a mentor to a struggling 14 year old. This basically involved tutoring him in his worst subjects and helping him manage his sport and work load (basic time management). I myself am an elite athlete competing for my region in hockey and I play in the women’s National League. This has forced me to manage my time well as time-management is an extremely important attribute in success. Because of this, I would very much be able to advise people on how best to manage school work with external/internal commitments (whether it be sport or other things).
Finally, while at MCS I was a reading teacher in the local primary school, helping disadvantaged 7-12 yos learn to read.

My teaching method is uniquely customised depending on who I am giving lesson to. For example, I recently tutored a young 14 yo boy with ADHD (for English) and, due to this problem, made the lesson much more hands-on and interactive, allowing him the opportunity to learn while saying alert. From these lessons I certainly learnt patience and tuned my explaining skills so that he would not get too distracted. I have also taught 2 twin girls for Common Entrance level. This allowed me to develop the lesson so that both girls had the opportunity to ask questions and talk about what they individual struggled with. It also helped me to make sure that they both were doing the best they could, despite one thinking they were in the shadow of the other.
I will teach anyone up to A-level level having been a recent A-level English student myself. Depending on what is asked (whether it be KS, CE, GCSE, IB or A-level) I will change my teaching methodology so that it works best for you. Whether that be focus on detailed passages and key words or whether it be a general overview in light detail so as to develop an overall understanding.

Gabriella is a lovely, articulate girl. She cares about her students and has lots of patience explaining things until they understand. She is 100% reliable and trustworthy.
Gabriella has held a number of respoonsible positions in her school career and in her sport. Being an elite sportswoman she had developed skills to manage her academic workload. She is patient and good at explaining concepts and has tutored a number of students as well as being elected a mentor to help younger pupils during her time at school. I would recommend her as she has a strong academic record and the skills to tutor, particularly GCSE, 11+ and 13+ candidates.
