An English exam in school is divided into 4 distinct sections that are individually easy yet demand a lot of your time during the initial years of education. Once you're through with that initial phase, English becomes the easiest subject to tackle in higher classes for school children.
To for the grammar and comprehensions, I have an approach of practice being the best teacher and for the literature and writing sections, I believe understanding and keeping your basic concepts clear is the key.
The most important thing of all, to remove the fear of holding a pen to the paper in the minds of the children.
