About Alina
Hello! My name is Alina Wang and I am a first year student studying Politics and Economics at the University of Southampton. I would like to teach (I)GCSE Mathematics because I have a passion for Mathematics and have always found it fascinating. I have also found it to be very rewarding and satisfying to solve Mathematics problems. During my IGCSEs and A-Levels, I found that I could often spend hours and hours doing past papers and, as people on social media now say, "reach flow state".

I target my tutoring towards (I)GCSE Mathematics and can teach in both English and Chinese. I sat my IGCSE Mathematics exam one year early in May 2022 and achieved an A* (94). During Sixth Form, while I was completing my A-Levels, which included Mathematics, I taught IGCSE Mathematics after school, which shows my experience in tutoring Mathematics. The length of my classes typically range from 45 minutes to one hour. In classes, we can go through textbooks, work through past papers together, or I can focus on specific topics students have problems with. If focusing on specific topics is the case, I must be informed a few days in advance to be able to prepare. In terms of homework, there are usually two ways to proceed. If we are working through the textbook, whether that be going through the whole book or focusing on specific topics, I will set questions from the textbook or workbook as homework. If we have finished going through the textbook and/or are working through past papers, I will set more past papers for homework and mark the students' answers to discuss in the next class.
