About Juan
I was born in Puerto Rico, and moved to the United States when I was only 4 years old. When I arrived in Miami, FL, I had only spoken Spanish up until that point. With the help of TV shows, movies and books, I was able to learn English and can now speak and write it fluently. Luckily, although English was slowly becoming my first language, I maintained my Spanish roots and still speak Spanish fluently. As a way to fortify my Spanish even more, I took multiple AP Spanish courses in both high school and university. I was able to receive the maximum score of 5 on every AP Spanish exam I took. With my experience, I would love to be able to help students of all ages become fluent in either English or Spanish.

As a tutor, my approach is student-centered, adaptive, and focused on fostering a positive and engaging learning environment. I strive to create personalized learning experiences that cater to the unique needs and goals of each student.
Here's an overview of my teaching approach and what sets me apart as a tutor: I assess the student's current knowledge, learning style, and goals to tailor my teaching approach accordingly. I provide clear explanations, break down complex concepts, and offer real-life examples to help students grasp difficult concepts and apply them in practical situations.
A typical lesson plan includes the following components: Reviewing previously learned concepts to reinforce knowledge and establish connections. Introducing new concepts or skills through clear explanations and examples. Assigning independent practice activities to allow students to reinforce their learning on their own.
What Sets Me Apart as a Tutor: I adapt my teaching methods and materials to meet the specific needs and learning styles of each student, ensuring a customized learning experience. I create a supportive and non-judgmental environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes as part of the learning process. I provide ongoing support outside of lesson time, answering questions, providing additional resources, and offering guidance to ensure students' progress between sessions.
