About Allison
"Graduating with an MSc Data Science from the University of Edinburgh provided the foundation for my 12 years of tutoring experience, where I have guided many students through complex technical concepts. My daily work involves navigating JavaScript, C++, and object-oriented programming while managing SQL databases to ensure robust data architecture. Python remains my primary language for teaching, supported by extensive experience in HTML and CSS implementation.
I maintain a focus on clear data structures, clean code practices, and efficient debugging techniques to help learners build sustainable software habits. "Complex programming problems often dissolve when you apply a 10.0 scale of focus to individual logic gates rather than broad theories. You might find that the best way to write functional code is to first break the entire project until the errors show you exactly where the logic fails.
I introduce specific debugging techniques that turn overwhelming compilation errors into simple, manageable steps for any student. We will review your current codebase and identify where structural optimisations can improve your overall performance in IB HL CS tracks. Each session moves through your specific hurdles while we build a consistent practice of writing clean, scalable software. Python scripts will serve as our primary training ground for testing new algorithms and verifying data structures.
I will evaluate your current logic flow to ensure that your submissions meet the highest academic standards. We work on translating your unique ideas into code that runs efficiently. Mastering these foundational concepts ensures you are prepared for whatever technical exam or project appears next in your curriculum."
