About Christian
My name is Christian, I am 19 years old, and currently studying Psychology at Northumbria University. Before this, I studied music, specialising in Guitar Performance at the Academy of Music and Sound for two years. Overall, I have been studying guitar for over 5 years, learning a range of styles in order to make myself as versatile and dynamic as possible. This goes from Pop, to Country, to Jazz, to Metal. During my time at the Academy, I was taught primarily under the tutelage of a highly experienced and professional guitarist. This time allowed me to develop fantastic technical skills, in-depth knowledge of music theory, and a comprehensive understanding of how to professionally navigate the music world. I implement many of his teaching exercises and approaches into my lessons as I remember how effective they were in my development, and I have found that they have been just as effective in my students. Lessons will be highly professional and ethical, whilst maintaining a comfortable and relaxed learning environment. Whilst lesson structures generally are made in advance, I am highly adaptable to where the students' skill/experience and/or interests currently are, and will adjust lessons to suit these.

My lessons are tailored to students' experience and skill levels, so I will always begin a lesson with a new student by establishing their current level in order to determine where to start. For absolute beginners, I will start with the fundamentals. This includes learning the anatomy of the guitar, string names, how to hold a pick, basic songs (e.g. Twinkle Twinkle Little Star), and one or two chords. When the student is comfortable with these things, we will then move on to learning basic chords in order to get playing a (relatively) simple song so that they can apply their learning to real songs as soon as possible. I have been teaching for a year and a half, ranging from experienced students to absolute beginners; this has gone from ages 9 - late 40s. So, no matter what your age, experience, or interests, I can guarantee that you would get something worthwhile from my lessons!
