About Bert
Playing violin requires a physical connection that often feels counter-intuitive to beginners. Starting 13 years ago, I realised that technical precision must be the bedrock of every session. Having guided 58 students, I observe how different learners interpret musical notation. My background at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama shapes how I explain shifting positions.
I focus on sight reading and ear training to build independence. Double stops and complex bowing like spiccato and staccato require a methodical pace. I am eager to assist you in reaching your specific technical goals.

Effective instruction avoids the trap of rushing through fundamental scales and arpeggios. Classical repertoire becomes accessible when you break down the mechanics of the bow and finger placement. Tuning by ear is a vital skill. I deliver a monthly progress report shared with parents to ensure consistency.
Practice. You will master specific movements with clarity. My 13 years of experience allow me to detect subtle errors in your posture. The path to proficiency is built on these small, deliberate adjustments.
