About Derek
With over 5 years of experience and a BSc in Computer Science, I tutor high school students in Computer Programming. I help learners prepare for IGCSE and A-Level exams through practical coding demonstrations and interactive exercises. Students gain strong foundations in core topics such as Functions, Loops, Data Structures, and Object-Oriented Programming. I incorporate past paper practice to build confidence and exam readiness. I focus on teaching Computer Programming by combining conceptual clarity with hands-on coding practice. Active visualisation helps students understand code execution and algorithm flow. Core topics include Loops, Functions, Variables, Object-Oriented Programming, and Algorithm Design. Recursion and Web Development basics are also introduced. Lessons integrate live coding demonstrations with detailed explanations. I provide support to Future Developers and Logical Thinkers, guiding them through essential programming principles. Students practise writing, testing, and debugging code independently. Exercises strengthen problem-solving, logical reasoning, and computational thinking. Real-life examples make abstract concepts tangible. Creativity is nurtured alongside structured learning. Lessons are paced according to each student’s understanding.
