About SHATHURYA
Hi, I’m a dental student at the University of Plymouth, with a strong academic background in the sciences and a passion for helping others succeed. I achieved A*AA in A-level Chemistry, Biology, and Maths, and I understand the challenges students face when preparing for exams — because I’ve been through it myself. I’m friendly, approachable, and patient, and I always aim to create a supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. My goal is not only to improve grades, but also to build confidence and genuine understanding of the subject. With a deep understanding of exam boards and what examiners are looking for, I focus on exam technique, active learning, and problem-solving strategies tailored to each student’s needs. My Approach to Tutoring and How I Teach As a current dental student at the University of Plymouth, I understand the importance of building a strong academic foundation, particularly in science and maths. I tailor each session to the individual needs and learning style of the student, ensuring that difficult concepts are broken down clearly and made easier to understand. Teaching Methodology I take a structured but flexible approach: In the first session identify strengths and areas for improvement. Use of active recall, spaced repetition, and exam-style questions to reinforce learning and improve exam technique. I encourage interactive learning, not just passive note-taking — asking questions, drawing diagrams, working through problems together. Lesson Structure & Length Typical lessons last 60 minutes, but I can offer 90-minute sessions if needed, especially closer to exams. Each lesson includes a brief recap of previous material, a focused teaching segment, active problem-solving, and a short review or quiz at the end. Qualifications & Experience Achieved A in Chemistry and A grades in Biology and Maths* at A-level. Currently studying dentistry, a science-intensive degree, keeping my subject knowledge fresh and relevant. I have experience tutoring GCSE and A-level students in Biology, Chemistry, and Maths, with positive feedback on my ability to explain complex topics clearly and patiently. Who I Teach GCSE and A-Level students (Years 10–13) studying Biology, Chemistry, or Maths. I also tutor KS3 students to help them build confidence before GCSEs. Lessons are suitable for students aiming for top grades, those needing a boost in confidence, or those who need help understanding specific topics.
