I am a fully qualified and experienced primary school teacher with experience of teaching learner with Dyslexia.
For learners with dyslexia of primary age, I am experienced in planning and teaching a 1:1 personalised programme that includes multi-sensory methods of learning in order to develop strategies for learning that can be transferred into the school context.
A typical tutoring session lasts one hour. In the first session, I do some learning activities to see how my pupil approaches learning and to talk to them about what they find easy about learning and what is tricky. I encourage my learners to tell me how they find different learning approaches and learning strategies as it is important for them to discover what works for them as this will help to build their confidence, knowledge and skills. I know that it is important for children to know how best they learn and to have a ‘learning toolkit’. We always discuss mistakes and rather than seeing them as failure, we talk about them as being a natural part of the learning process and also because some of our best learning can come from them.
My qualifications:
• BA (Hons) in Linguistics with Education and Community Development
• Postgraduate Certificate of Education
• MSc Specific Learning Difficulties (Dyslexia)
Fees: £25 per hour
