My lessons are tailored to suit the individual. There is no one size fits all. It doesn't take long to find out what each individual wants from lessons; so I hope to make lessons enjoyable and worthwhile. Lessons are never rigidly structured as there are too many variables at play that can undermine that approach; but I am able to think on my feet and where appropriate I can suggest a plan of action. But it has to be with the student's consent. I'm very patient with students and always try to see things from their perspective. I try to emphasise that that the pleasure is in the voyage of discovery and of seeing progress over a period of time. Not all students are on the fast track - far from it. Again, you have to see it from the individual's perspective - for some it is purely about enjoying their hobby; for others it is something else.
I have been teaching since 1990; in various contexts including schools, colleges, adult education and especially privately. During this time, I have taught many students, some of whom have gone on to greater things; and many of whom have passed exams in guitar, bass, classical, acoustic, music theory and band exams.
