About Pete
Pete is a Brooklyn-based multi-instrumentalist teaching artist, composer, and producer. He has worked with Aaron Frazer, Durand Jones and the Indications, John Cale (Velvet Underground), Katie Von Schleicher, Iris Dement, Lady Lamb, Eugene Onegin (musical), Holly Miranda, Hyperballad Studios, and The Moth, and has appeared on NPR's Tiny Desk Concerts, Jimmy Kimmel Live! and Last Call with Carson Daly. Pete writes and produces music for the Americana outfit Pete Lanctot and the Stray Dogs, and has released three albums as a band. In 2012, Pete co-founded Bantam Studios, a music school for adults, which has served over 8,000 students in the tri-state area. He has taught for the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music and the NYC Department of Education, and he maintains an active private studio. As a teacher, Pete has fifteen years of experience with students ranging from three years old to students in their seventies, and he strongly believes in tailoring lesson curriculum, repertoire, and vibe to the individual to best match each student's learning style and interests. He fosters an engaging environment to inspire fun, curiosity, and progress in lessons.

As a teacher, I am patient, empathetic and truly believe that everyone should have access to make music a part of their daily lives. I am patient, empathetic, and tailor curriculum to each student depending on their interests and learning habits, and I find the key to success is breaking down large tasks into smaller, manageable goals so students can feel a sense of accomplishment throughout the learning process.
