About Julie
Talking about myself is always a challenge--- so here I go!
Born and raised in the US, mostly the Chicago area, so I pride myself on midwestern friendliness. Where I have lived is listed below.
As a teacher, my goal is to provide/create a safe, caring space for my students to explore their language skills, whether you are a false beginner or totally fluent, it is my job to provide you with the tools you need to succeed as a non-native English speaker. I have worked for two universities, traditional middle and high schools and as a corporate teacher. I have worked for major corporations such as Coca Cola, Unicredit Bank and JetBrains, just to name a few.
I have lived in many big cities:
* 15 years in Los Angeles
*10 years in Prague, Czech Republic
* 3 years in St. Petersburg, Russia
* 4 years in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam
* 2 years teaching online with Taiwanese students
I can talk to anyone about anything, but my favorite topics are film, history, dance, travel and food!

I believe in having an open and friendly relationship with my students, but that doesn't mean I am too easy on you! My goal is to create lessons that are fun, interesting and specific to your needs and goals.
With the Film oriented lessons, the lessons can include the following:
1) Learning English vocabulary for talking about film and TV
2) Discussing current films and TV series, doing reviews, previews and analyses
3) Focus on specific genres, actors, directors, screenwriters and eras. (EX: We might do a series of lessons about Alfred Hitchcock films OR a series of lessons about Science Fiction films)
4) Student chooses films, directors, genre etc.
We will not be limited to just US/UK films, and may include films from the student's home country.
