About Shantel
I am a dedicated and compassionate TEFL-certified English tutor with experience both in classroom teaching and early childhood care. My background as an Assistant Teacher gave me strong foundations in lesson support, classroom management, and adapting learning materials to suit different student abilities and learning styles.
In addition, my experience working as an Assistant Nurse in an early childhood care environment strengthened my patience, emotional awareness, and ability to create a safe, nurturing space where children feel comfortable and confident. These combined experiences allow me to balance structured academic learning with warmth and encouragement.
I believe confidence is the foundation of language development. I prepare each lesson carefully, tailor materials to the student’s level, and focus on steady, measurable progress. Whether working with young learners, beginners, or adults, my goal is to create a supportive and motivating environment where students feel empowered to improve.

My teaching approach is learner-centered, supportive, and confidence-building. I believe students learn best in a safe and encouraging environment where mistakes are seen as part of growth. I use interactive methods such as games, storytelling, role-play, visual aids, and structured conversation practice to make lessons engaging and practical.
A typical lesson begins with a short warm-up activity to review previous material and build comfort. This is followed by introducing a new topic (vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, or conversational skills), guided practice, and then independent speaking or writing practice. I always end lessons with feedback and encouragement to reinforce progress and confidence.
What sets me apart as a tutor is my background in working with children and families. Through my experience supporting early childhood development, I understand the importance of patience, emotional awareness, and creating a nurturing learning environment. I focus not only on language skills but also on building self-confidence, especially in young learners.
