About Josiah
I'm a certified ESL tutor with a TEFL certification and a bachelor's degree in foreign languages. I've taught English to students from various backgrounds in both classroom and in small-group tutoring settings, including time spent teaching abroad in Central and South America. I know what it’s like to learn a new language, and I bring that same empathy and understanding to every lesson I teach. My students describe me as patient, encouraging, and easy to talk to. As a TEFL-certified English tutor with a bachelor’s degree in foreign languages, my teaching approach is rooted in empathy, clarity, and practical communication. I often incorporate real-life language, visuals, and conversation practice to make learning meaningful and effective. Because I’ve studied and spoken other languages (like Spanish, Portuguese, French, and Arabic), I know how intimidating it can be—and how to break things down in a way that’s encouraging and doable.
A typical lesson may include:

Focused practice (conversation, grammar, vocabulary, etc.) using real-world examples.
Corrective feedback and guidance in a supportive, non-judgmental way.
