About Matthew
My name is Matthew Thomas, and I'm 44 years old. I'm currently living and working in Seoul, Korea, but am planning to go back home to the UK in March 2022. My teaching experience in Korea began in 2008, and I've spent 13 years teaching a variety of young adults, university students and professional people in Seoul and the surrounding areas. I'm also qualified, with an MA in TESOL - Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages.
During my time in Korea, I have learned how to best help students overcome their low confidence in using English. My classes are not lectures where students only listen to me talking. Instead, I prefer to create an environment in which two or more people can sit down together and have an interesting and meaningful conversation. My job is to help and guide you in making better sentences and reducing grammatical errors while maintaining a friendly and warm learning mood.

My teaching methodology is fully student-centred and gives students a chance to practice and improve English by using the language in a way that suits them. You'll be talking about things that are interesting to you, and I'll be helping you to express yourself more clearly. I will also help you to comprehend what other people are saying, and give you hints and tips on how to sound confident and relaxed when you speak. I have 13 years experience of teaching young adults, university students and working professionals in South Korea, and a Master Degree in TESOL.
