About Jinglin
Jinglin Zhou is a violist from China currently pursuing his Doctor of Musical Arts degree on full scholarship at the USC Thornton School of Music, where he studies with renowned violinist and violist Yura Lee. He previously earned his Master of Music degree on full scholarship from the Juilliard School in New York and his Bachelor degree from the Shanghai Conservatory of Music. His principal teachers include Carol Rodland, Wenting Kang, Samuel Rhodes, Nian Liu, Jensen Lam, and Yucheng Shi.
Jinglin is the 1st prize winner at the 5th Hong Kong International String Competition and the 2nd prize winner at the 2026 American Viola Society Viola Competition. He was also the semifinalist at the 2nd Hindemith International Viola Competition in Munich and 8th Oskar Nedbal International Viola Competition. In 2020, his original cadenza to Carl Stamitz Viola Concerto won the first inaugural SHCM Cadenza Competition and was subsequently published by Shanghai Educational Publishing House in 2022.
Jinglin has also been an active participant in major international music festivals including the Kronberg Academy, Tenerife Viola Festival, Seiji Ozawa Academy, Tambasasayama Viola Masterclass, Bad Leonfeldon Academy, Schiermonnikoog Festival, and Heifetz Music Institute, where he worked with distinguished artists such as Nobuko Imai, Tabea Zimmermann, Ettore Causa, Thomas Riebl, Atar Arad, Garth Knox, Tim Frederiksen, Diyang Mei and Roberto Díaz. He has performed in prestigious venues including Tokyo Bunka Kaikan, Vienna Musikverein, Carnegie Hall, and Alice Tully Hall.
