About Robert
ABOUT
Robert Dylan Thomas (b. 3 March, 1985) is an English Drummer, Producer, Songwriter and music tutor.
Born and raised in Brixton, South London, his musical talent became apparent at age eleven after picking up the drums. Robert studied various styles of drumming and eventually formed popular Indie band The Maccabees in his late teens. He went on to release two top 40 albums with The Maccabees, 'Colour It In' (2007) and 'Wall of Arms' (2008) and had a string of top 40 singles with the band including the hit single 'Toothpaste Kisses' in 2007.
Robert left The Maccabees after two extensive world tours in 2008 to pursue other musical ventures. He played session drums for 1965 Records recording artist Derek Meins. Robert and Derek went on to form political activist group The Agitator who were signed to David Balfe's Pointless Excitement in 2010. In 2011 the duo went on to perform on the legendary Later with Jools Holland show.
After The Agitator disbanded Robert did a two year music production course at Access To Music in Brighton and has been producing for local artists. At Access To Music he met Jimmy Day and Laurence Allen and became session drummer for the much hyped project LOYAL. The group have already become a RADIO 1 favourite and have just singed to Songs Publishing and had their song 'Moving As One' used by gaming giants Fifa 2017.
Robert is also a keen educator, teaching professional level drumming and running music groups for Brighton charity Audio Active.
