About Ai-Zhen
Hi! I'm a senior writing major at Ithaca College. I love to travel, I love animals, and I love expressing myself in different ways. When I was younger, writing became a safe place for me because I felt I could be myself unjudged. That passion grew and turned into publishing articles, writing short stories, personal essays and poems. Now that I'm about to graduate, I'm leaning heavily towards becoming a teacher. Tutoring students online is a great way for me to begin!

Strength in academic writing comes from strength in knowing the purpose of writing and the various structures it can take.
One of the first things I learned about writing academic essays was the MEAL structure (Main claim, Evidence, Analysis, Link). Once you become comfortable with this formatting, you can use it in any kind of writing.
Writing is also a process. It requires many drafts and different perspectives, so patience and creativity come along with strong academic writing.
The most important thing about being a tutor for someone who wants to be a better writer is meeting them where they are and encouraging them to see how they can improve.
