About Timothy
Timothy Lunn is a QTS-qualified English teacher with twelve years of classroom experience at two of the country's leading independent schools, Habs Boys and The Perse School. He is an experienced examiner, having marked for AQA and OCR across multiple exam series. He is now a private tutor, working directly with families and alongside nationally respected tutoring agencies.

Timothy's lessons are shaped throughout by what he has learnt examining. Having seen at first hand where students gain marks and where they lose them, he teaches students to recognise the difference between a competent response and a genuinely convincing one, and to build the habits that produce the latter.
Each lesson combines close reading with deliberate practice in planning, argument and expression, informed by his classroom pedagogy: sequenced explanation, questioning that develops independent thinking, and modelled examples that students then learn to improve themselves.
Work is assessed to examiner standard, and precise targets carry over into the next session, so that progress is cumulative and visible.
Lessons are online, one-to-one and last one hour. They are suited to students preparing for 11+ and 13+ entrance examinations, to those studying at Key Stage 3, GCSE, IGCSE or A-Level, and to Oxbridge applicants, with tailored support for students with SEND or EAL needs.
