About Raj
My name is Raj Thakwani, and I study Electrical and Electronic Engineering with Space Science and Technology (MEng) at the University of Bath. Having always been fascinated by how things work, from circuits to satellites, I intend to pursue a career in engineering and technology development. In the meantime, I’m looking to offer help to students who might find maths, physics, or electronics challenging or less exciting than I do (for now). I teach Maths and Physics for GCSE and A-Level, subjects in which I not only have strong academic foundations (A* in Maths, A in Physics, A in Computer Science) but also continue to apply practically at university through labs, coding, and design projects. I understand that these subjects can feel daunting, especially under exam pressure, and my goal is to build students’ confidence while helping them discover the logic and creativity behind problem-solving. Alongside teaching the core material, I share effective revision techniques and real-world examples to make the learning process more engaging and relatable.

In my lessons, I begin by reviewing the key theory for the day's topic, covering all the required content outlined in the exam specification in precise, structured detail. I like to make the session interactive, encouraging students to think through problems aloud and checking understanding as we go. I believe that consistent practice and genuine understanding are what truly build confidence in maths and physics. Because of this, I dedicate part of each lesson to working through example questions step by step, explaining both the methods and the reasoning behind them. At the end of each session, I let the student choose the next topic or area they’d like to focus on. This helps me plan a tailored follow-up lesson that matches their individual pace and goals, whether that’s exam preparation or strengthening core understanding.
