About Lorentz
I have been playing for 15 years now. From living in Leeds, I've made the step to move down to London and can be found at the effra tavern, the hideaway, little nans and other south London jam sessions.
I attended the BRIT School, where I met some fantastic musicians, some of which I still keep in contact with and I also attended Leeds College Of Music, where I received an honorary first class jazz degree.
I think harmony and chords are my biggest strength however I also teach other styles to a solid level and would consider myself a strong composer.
I'm looking for quality teaching time over quantity which means I'm willing to give a lot of time to helping my students. Please contact me if interested.
My main project at the moment is with another guitarist called Toby Noble in a duo yet to be named, which will be tackling guitar music from the 30s by artists such as Eddie Lang, Lonnie Johnson, Carl Kress, Dick McDonough and many others

I believe in the power of having a positive tutor particularly in creative pursuits. My approach is to encourage students to practice. I would also like to push my students to begin to search for outlets for their new found expression. I believe a friendly and down-to-earth demeanor is the best approach.
I have a wide variety of teaching experience and understand the need for different teaching approaches for different people. My aim as a tutor is to help all my students with progression and consolidation in their musical learning. I believe music should be fun and my aim for any student is to first get them playing something new on the guitar and then if they want to, go into the theory of it and finally if they wish to improvise, we can put the music under the magnifying lens and see what we can discover about it's inner workings.
I am DBS checked and can produce a copy of the certificate on request. I am also more than happy for parents to observe the lessons and join in too if they fancy! All Abilities are welcome. Although if you're an advanced player you may well be teaching me some things from time to time!
For advanced players. Please listen to my music and decide whether there is anything there that you think you would benefit from learning or that you're particularly interested in.
