About Richard
Hi, I'm Richard. I'm a kind and energetic teacher with a passion for literature, theatre and music and I'd love to work with you to improve your language ability or help you prepare for your Junior or Leaving Cert exams.
I grew up in Donegal before moving to Dublin for university and in 2017, I graduated with a degree in Theatre Studies from Trinity College. Shortly after that, I attained a CELTA qualification from International House, Dublin and began teaching at ISI, one of Ireland's best-rated English schools.
For the next few years, I continued teaching while also working as an actor and musician for theatre. My work has won several awards at Dublin Fringe Festival and toured the country. I now live with my partner in Avignon, France, where we study at École Jacques Lecoq, a world-renowned physical theatre school.

I achieved an A1 in Leaving Cert English and went on to graduate with a humanities degree from Trinity College, Dublin. I also hold a CELTA qualification and have been teaching English as a foreign language for several years to a wide range of ages, both in Ireland and abroad.
With this combined experience, I am uniquely qualified to teach English as a foreign language and tutor English for Junior and Leaving Cert. Unlike other second-level tutors, I carry a teaching qualification and extensive classroom experience and feedback from my students always emphasises my enthusiasm, patience and clarity.
Outside of teaching, I work professionally as an actor and musician and I write plays, prose and poetry, so I can certainly help with your creative writing and I have lots of tricks to improve your public speaking and your confidence in English.
I provide lessons of one to three hours for students of any age. The first session will be used to determine your learning needs and lesson plans will then be designed specifically for you. Classes can be based on conversation or focused on specific goals or tasks, but always with a casual, student-led approach.
