Trudi - Central Rugby - Music Early Learning Activities - for children

Methodology

My name is Trudi Garth and I've been professionally teaching and performing music both in the UK and abroad for over 24yrs.

- Which subject(s) do you teach?

I am a Specialist Flute teacher and also teach the piano, and integrate Musicianship, aural and theory as separate classes or into each instrumental lesson. Vocal Coaching is also available as part of aural and musicianship. Workshops are run on a regular basis.

- Tell me about your qualifications.

I am a fully qualified Flautist whom studied at the Birmingham Conservatiore under Bernard Herman gaining DipABRSM. I have been teaching the above subjects for over 24yrs and have been a member of the Birmingham Chamber, symphony and other orchestras around the midlands. I have taught in British Forces Germany in schools on the northern Rhine and in the UK. I have been a professional performer for many years.

- How much do you charge?

Lessons are always on a one to one basis at £35 per hour. 1/2 an hour is charged at £20.00 and 3/4 hour is charges at £28.00.

Exam fees are extra and rehearsals are payable subject to accompanist fees as and when required.

- Where do you teach?

In Rugby, Coventry and all villages and towns in the surrounding area..
I am also able to teach in the Worcestershire areas normally at weekends.

- When are you available?

I am available from Monday to Friday daytimes and evenings and Saturday mornings.

- Which ages and levels do you teach?

I teach all ages and standards from Beginner to diploma in Flute.
Due to the demand as a flute Tutor I am currently only taking Beginners in the Piano and will work with them to Grade 5. Theory to Grade 5 and above, Aural tests to grade 5 and above including sight singing.

- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?

I prepare students that wish to take ABRSM exams on their instrument for the relevant grades. From the ABRSM Prep test to Grade 5 on Piano and from the prep test to the Diploma in Flute.

- Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.

I use Skype as the primary source for teaching online. Appointments are to be made and paid for in advance.

- Do you have a personal message for students?

My Lessons are fun and enjoyable. Duets are played with myself or other students at the same standard in every lesson if time permits as well as time to enjoy music that you want to play if you bring it along with you. You are welcome to try one lesson at the above rates to see if you like the lesson.
If you are studying toward an exam practise is essential to your success as a Flautist or a Pianist and of course I will expect you to practise!:)

Background

- What kind of experience do you have?

I have been teaching the above subjects for over 24 years and have been a member of the Birmingham Chamber, Symphony and other orchestras around the Midlands. I have taught in British Forces Germany in schools on the northern Rhine and in the UK. I have been a professional performer for many years.
As a Specialist flautist I concentrate on the finer points of playing the flute that often are overlooked such as embouchure, tone, articulation, technique etc.
All my students have passed their ABRSM exams with a high Merit or distinction to date.

- Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?

I have a DBS

- Where and with whom did you train?

Some of my students are learning just for fun on the Piano and the flute.some of my students are going on to music college or university and conservatoires around the country and in france.
