About Judith
I am a seasoned and popular special educator who has helped hundreds of students become stronger math students over the 20 years that I have been a teacher. I am patient, combine my humor with hard work and always end each lesson on a positive note. I believe that my approach is successful because I have the ability to not only understand where my students are in their current abilities and strengths, but then I use these strengths and abilities to support their math learning journey as I guide them through it. I provide feedback and praise often, building confidence in students and use feedback from them to build a trusting and rewarding partnership. The combination of visuals, explanations in step by step instruction, asking questions and answering them, building a trusting relationship, clarifying as we go along and revisiting what we did right are some of the building blocks on which I build a strong foundation. I am genuinely excited by the positive growth I see in my students, and I am always quick to share these successes with them.

My positive and supportive approach is based upon years of working with students who struggle with math. I focus first on meeting my students where they are and building confidence and an understanding of the reasons for learning about mathematics by providing opportunities for a positive experience each time we meet. I use concrete examples to connect math concepts to the outside world, and I offer a variety of proven strategies, visual examples, and enjoyable and practical learning opportunities for increasing fluency and resources for skill development.
