About Daniel

I’m a Chartered Chemical Process Engineer with 15 years of experience across industry and academia. I’ve worked on large-scale energy and low-carbon projects, from hydrogen and biofuels to e-methanol, sustainable aviation fuels and petrochemicals, contributing to complex asset developments.

Before focusing fully on industry, I was a university professor in chemical engineering. Teaching wasn’t a side activity but a core part of my career. I enjoyed it so much! I’ve supervised 100+ design and research projects, designed modules (e.g. thermodynamics for chemical engineers, transport phenomena, process simulation or design projects), marked exams, and supported students from first year through to MSc level. I understand both the academic expectations and the pressures students face.

Why do I teach privately?

Because I know how transformative the right guidance can be. Many capable students struggle not due to lack of ability, but because concepts aren’t explained in a way that connects logically. I know this first hand. Chemical engineering is cumulative and so, if fundamentals aren’t solid, everything becomes harder. I enjoy breaking complex topics into structured, intuitive steps until they “click.”

I teach because I value clarity, intellectual rigour and helping others build genuine engineering thinking and develop confidence. My goal is to equip you with the reasoning skills and structured approach that will serve you long after the module is over.

I don’t offer generic tutoring: I work the way I used to supervise my own university students.

As a chartered chemical process engineer and former professor, I understand exactly where students struggle: thermodynamics that feels abstract, mass and heat balances that spiral, design projects that seem overwhelming or software like Aspen/HYSYS that doesn’t “click.”

My approach is structured, practical and tailored to your syllabus.

What you can expect:
- Reality check: I quickly identify conceptual gaps rather than just solving problems for you.
- Step-by-step reasoning: I focus on how to think like a process engineer, not memorise equations.
- Project guidance: Clear frameworks for design basis, drawings, specifications, calculations, datasheets, reports and design logic.
- Industry perspective: I connect theory to real £100M+ project process design.

Sessions are interactive and focused on outcomes. You’ll leave each one with clarity, structured thinking and specific next steps.

My goal is simple: build your confidence so you no longer need me :)
