About Jane
I started medical school at UCL in 2015. Following my integrated BSc in Physiology in 2018, I applied and got accepted onto the MBPhD programme. I am currently in the 5th and final year of my PhD at the UCL Cancer Institute, using genetic engineering and stem cells to investigate the role of mutations in childhood acute lymphoblastic leukaemia development. I am due to finish my PhD imminently and will return to medical school next week where I have two more years of studying left before I graduate. I recently started a YouTube channel with videos tailored to medical students and PhD students (see below). I've also started a tutoring YouTube channel (tutor_jane) where I teach GCSE maths for free. I have a variety of experience in teaching and tutoring students: I'm currently a PhD tutor for the Brilliant Club where I design research-based tutorials for sixth form students, I supervised my own third year BSc student in getting a 1st class in their Cancer Biomedicine research project last year and I did two years of formal KS3-KS5 mathematics tutoring at Cherry Hill Tuition after sixth form. Through SuperProf I have also tutored students in GCSE and KS3 Maths and Science. Regarding medical school applications- I interviewed at all 4 of the medical schools I applied for (UCL, Imperial, Kings & Barts) following doing well in my BMAT and obtaining a UKCAT score that was in the top 10% for my year. I've also conducted mock interviews with Oxbridge Applications Tutors. My academic transcript is below: 2019- present: integrated PhD in Cancer Biology, UCL Cancer Institute (pending) 2017-2018: integrated BSc in Physiology & Medical Sciences, UCL Medical School (upper second class honours) 2015- present: MBBS, UCL Medical School (pending) A Levels: A* (Biology), A* (Chemistry), A*(Mathematics), Henrietta Barnett School AS Level: A (Psychology), Henrietta Barnett School GCSEs: 9A* & 2A, Slough Grammar School

Having achieved 3010 (top 10% of my year) in the UKCAT myself I now tutor for the UKCAT with classes tailored to your needs. I also review medical school personal statements and give thorough written feedback (with potential interview questions noted). Students can re-send improved drafts for further feedback. Additionally, I can also do 1h mock interview sessions where we can go through a variety of questions- generic as well as more tailored ones based on the personal statement. For the latter I request the personal statement be sent two days prior. Students can come back to practise again in further sessions. The key to interviews is building confidence in talking! Both students I assisted with medical school admissions preparation got into their top choice medical schools and one of my students got into the UCL MBPhD programme.

Highly motivated and experienced teacher. From small group tutorials in medicine and research to personalized medical school admissions preparation and mentoring; she puts 100% into everything she does and her passion for teaching shines through. Uniquely positioned halfway between researcher and doctor, she excels in simplifying the complex, making seemingly unapproachable topics understandable.

Jane is a tremendously bright, articulate and motivated young woman. I have know her for 3 years as part of the highly competitive UCL MB PhD program. I have heard her present on numerous occasions and she can simply and articulate very complex issues making them understandable to those of all levels of scientific understanding.
She has also demonstrated great interpersonal & organisational skills.View more recommendations
