About Ellie
My name is Ellie and I am an undergraduate English student at the University of Cambridge. I have always had a passion for reading: when I was little I would wake up at the crack of dawn simply to read. This passion has developed as I have had the opportunity to explore a wider variety of types of literature, across the whole span of time. My favourite areas of literature are the renaissance era, the 19th century, and the 20th century. Through beginning my degree, my comparative skills as well as dealing with unseen texts have flourished. In the future I hope to either go into writing, or publishing-I'm still figuring it out!

In my lessons there is room for liberty: at GCSE i studied Macbeth and Frankenstein for Paper 1: Shakespeare and the 19th-century novel, and Never Let Me Go and the power and conflict poems for Paper 2: Modern texts and poetry. At A-Level I studied English Literature A: Love through the ages ( for which I studied Othello and compared Tess of the D'urbervilles with the post-1900 love poetry), and option 2B: Modern times: literature from 1945 to the present day ( for which i studied A Streetcar named Desire, and then compared Ariel with Spies). In both GCSE and A-Level, i completed unseen poetry and prose, thus developing my skills on dealing with texts have not previously seen, and how to efficiently answer them. I also completed a 2,500 word coursework comparative essay, which strengthened my comparative skills when dealing with two texts, as well as how to balance my argument fairly. All of these texts and topics are opened to be discussed in my sessions.
