About Tanay
Economics has always been a subject I have enjoyed teaching and learning. This passion has led to me taking a further step in the field by pursuing a bachelor's degree in Economics at the Queen Mary University of London. The multifaceted nature of the subject has left a never-ending learning curve for the subject which adds to why this subject is such a great subject. When I took IGCSE Economics, learning about how the economy functions fascinated me and I have since wished to bring this knowledge over to as many students as possible, having taught multiple students in the past and seeing a grade improvement from them. The subject has always fascinated me and I understood a while back that knowledge in economics isn’t just textbook-oriented, but it requires knowledge of the real world to go in hand with it, which is reflected in my lesson style which incorporates day-to-day developments in the real-world.

I myself took IGCSE Economics with IB Economics and thus hold a strong understanding of the course requirements and how to teach around them, and I have done so for other students taking IGCSEs, IB and A Levels for more than two years. In my classes, I combine real-world examples of syllabus statements to provide students with a clearer understanding of how the knowledge gained applies in the real world. I generally hold classes for 45-60 minutes, however lesson length can vary. I also place a focus on ensuring there’s a strong level of knowledge retention, so with every class i’ll be spending some time ensuring that content learned in the previous lesson is still remembered. I also inquire into the content the student is learning at school to know how to pace my classes, so often students will find me teaching the content they learned in class again to ensure the knowledge is retained, and that can either be through teaching or by going through practice questions. The format I use is teaching through presentations created before the class starts. All I simply require is knowledge of what the student is actively learning in class so I can prepare accordingly.
