About Yannis
As a native Greek speaker and bilingual in Greek and English, I understand the struggles of language learning firsthand. I remember how frustrating Greek grammar felt as a student, but once I moved past rigid rules and focused on real communication, everything clicked. I believe the best way to learn a language is by experiencing it—through conversation and practice rather than just memorising grammar. Greek can seem complex, but my goal is to help students see its beauty and logic in a natural, accessible way, building confidence and fluency step by step.

As a native Greek speaker and bilingual in Greek and English, my tutoring approach is centred on conversation-based learning. I believe the best way to learn a language is through real-life interaction, so my lessons focus on speaking, listening, and practical communication rather than heavy grammar exercises. While I do cover essential grammar and writing skills, my main goal is to help students develop fluency and confidence through guided conversations, pronunciation correction, and learning common phrases used by native speakers. Each lesson typically lasts 1 to 1.5 hours, depending on the student's needs. My lessons are suitable for beginners and intermediate learners aged 10 and above, whether they are students, travellers, or anyone interested in learning Greek. I have experience tutoring middle school students, international students adapting to Greek, and even helping a Ukrainian student learn Greek for daily communication. My background includes completing both the IB Diploma (with Modern Greek) and the Greek General Lyceum, providing me with strong language skills and a deep understanding of Greek literature and culture. I offer online lessons for flexibility and convenience, though in-person sessions in London may be possible. My goal is to create a relaxed, engaging, and supportive learning environment where students can practise Greek naturally and effectively.
