About Edie
I am a BA Music graduate from the University of Leeds. I have many years experience playing soprano and alto saxophone, as well as recorder. I have a diverse musical knowledge base and experience playing piano. This together with my qualification in Grade 8 Music Theory and a degree level understanding of music theory means that I have a clear understanding of music and how it works, which feeds into my instrumental and theory teaching.
I have performed solo and in ensembles to degree level, and I have experience playing in a a variety of groups ranging from small jazz bands and quartets to big bands and wind orchestras.
I have taught beginners saxophone to a number of young adults and I have experience tutoring and working with children.

I am a saxophone and recorder teacher of beginner to intermediate standard. I can help you learn whether you want to pass grades or play for the joy of learning music. I always cater directly to what my students want to learn and the way in which they learn. This means listening to what you want to achieve as a instrumentalist and helping you achieve this.
For saxophone, I teach both in a popular and jazz-based style, through listening, learning harmonies and patterns, and learning to improvise, or in a classical style, through learning traditional notation and style.
I also teach music theory from beginners to advanced, either for a desire to understand how music works, or also to work towards music theory grades. Again, I tailor this to student's individual needs and interests.
