About Deborah
I'm a professional ESL/ELICOS/EALD teacher with 30 years teaching experience in university language schools, private colleges, secondary and primary schools. I have a B.A., B.Ed. and M.Ed. For the past 10 years I've worked full time teaching English language to migrants, international students and refugees. I've taught HSC ESL course in NSW, Certificate in Spoken and Written English (Levels 1-3) and IELTS preparation. I enjoy all aspects of English language teaching- speaking and pronunciation, presentations, reading, writing, listening, viewing and responding.

I'm very adaptable and flexible in my approach to helping students master English. I'm happy to teach remotely through online conversations, Microsoft Teams and emailing, or meeting for face-to-face lessons in a library or cafe. Depending on your circumstances, I'll use my knowledge and skills to adapt the content to your learning style and what you want to achieve. I'm happy to use current affairs/cultural events and realia as a starting point to the lessons, or you can bring your grammar questions or your study work for me to check. You will find me very encouraging, positive, motivating and interested in your learning.

Details
My hourly rate is dependent on the level of the English language learner.
Conversation classes (with some grammar explanation and support) are $30 per hour, $40 per hour for 2-3 people or $50 per hour for 4-5 people.
For intensive academic English tutoring for university coursework, which also involves correction of academic writing tasks and preparation of materials, may cost up to $60 depending on what's required.
