About YEEUN
I am currently undertaking the Graduate Diploma in Secondary Teaching (Mathematics & Calculus) at the University of Auckland and completing my practicum at Rangitoto College. I also hold a Bachelor of Science in Materials Engineering from Seoul, and I have 4 years of experience as a Process Engineer at SK.
I have a calm, patient, and positive personality, and I enjoy helping students feel more confident in subjects that they may initially find challenging. I understand that learning mathematics can sometimes feel overwhelming, so I aim to create a supportive and encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes as part of the learning process.
Having spent six years studying as an international student in China, I also fully understand the challenges of learning in a second language. Because of this experience, I warmly welcome international students and those who may feel less confident in English. I can explain concepts clearly and simply, and I adjust my communication style to suit each student’s level of English.
Overall, I aim to make mathematics more approachable and less stressful by focusing on clarity, patience, and step-by-step understanding, while helping students build both skills and confidence.

My tutoring approach is highly skills-based and exam-focused. In mathematics, especially calculus, I believe most problems become manageable once students understand the key techniques and question types. I break topics down into clear, repeatable methods and teach students how to recognise which strategy to apply in different situations, rather than relying on memorisation.
Each lesson is typically 60 minutes. We start by working through selected past exam questions, particularly from NCEA external papers, focusing on commonly tested and high-frequency question types. I guide students step-by-step through the solving process and highlight efficient methods and common pitfalls.
After that, students practise similar problems using carefully designed questions that I have prepared based on the same concepts. This helps reinforce understanding and significantly increases exposure to exam-style practice. My goal is to maximise practice volume while ensuring students build accuracy and confidence.
My lessons are best suited for secondary school students preparing for NCEA or equivalent mathematics levels, especially those who want structured exam preparation and improved problem-solving efficiency.
