My teaching method is tailored to the needs and interests of the individual student and lessons can be adapted to focus on diverse topics covering the four essential skills of speaking, listening, writing and reading comprehension. I welcome both students preparing for GCSE, A-Level and university exams, and learners of all ages and ability levels seeking to improve their general fluency and confidence in French and Spanish.
I graduated from the University of Cambridge in 2016 with a first-class degree in French and Spanish language and culture, then worked in multilingual roles in teaching and business in France, Spain and the UK before going on to complete a Masters degree in French and Spanish to English translation at the University of Manchester.
During my undergraduate studies I spent three months working as an English language assistant at the University of Salamanca in Spain, where I taught large groups of up to 40 undergraduate students, before spending seven months working for a multinational insurance company in Paris and using French on a daily basis.
After graduating, I then spent a year working back in the UK as an Export Sales Assistant, a role which involved regular written and spoken communication with native French and Spanish speakers, before spending the 2017-2018 academic year working in Madrid as a TEFL-certified English language assistant in a mixed 3-18 school.
After returning to the UK, I further developed my language skills by studying for a Masters in translation, then gained experience as an in-house translator and project manager in a UK translation company before setting out as a freelance translator, linguist and language tutor.
Through my language and translation studies and practical experience of living and working in France and Spain, I have become fully fluent in written and spoken French and Spanish, whilst my teaching roles in Salamanca and Madrid have provided me with experience of tailoring material to students of a wide range of ages and ability levels. My combination of academic language training up to Masters level and practical experience of using French and Spanish in a range of business and everyday contextes means that I am able to adapt lessons to suit both school and university students preparing for language examinations, and adult learners looking to develop their language skills for business or leisure.
