About James
I am a University of Cambridge Sociology graduate with a passion for helping students develop both academic confidence and a deeper understanding of society. Throughout my degree, I explored how social institutions, inequalities, culture and politics shape the world around us, developing strong analytical, research and essay-writing skills.
Alongside my studies, I have gained more than three years of experience tutoring and mentoring students. This has taught me how to explain complex ideas clearly, adapt lessons to different learning styles and help students overcome challenges in a supportive environment.
I believe sociology is one of the most fascinating subjects because it encourages students to think critically about the society they live in and question assumptions they may take for granted. My aim is not only to help students achieve excellent exam results but also to develop their curiosity, confidence and enjoyment of learning. Whether you are studying GCSE or A-Level Sociology, I will provide personalised support to help you reach your full potential.

I am a University of Cambridge Sociology graduate with over three years of tutoring experience, helping students improve their grades, confidence and understanding of sociology. My lessons are tailored to each student's individual needs, whether they are aiming for top grades, preparing for exams or building confidence in the subject.
A typical lesson lasts 60 minutes and combines clear explanations of key sociological theories and concepts with exam-focused practice. I place particular emphasis on essay writing, evaluation skills, applying sociological perspectives and mastering exam technique, helping students maximise marks in both short-answer and extended-response questions.
Having studied a wide range of sociological topics, including education, crime and deviance, social inequalities, globalisation and political sociology, I am able to bring the subject to life using contemporary examples and current affairs. My teaching style is supportive, engaging and structured, and I work with students of all abilities to help them achieve their academic goals.
