About Adrian
Qualifications and Experience as a Tutor I am a passionate and dedicated violin and viola mentor, music specialist, and performer with over a decade of experience. I hold a Master's in Viola Performance from the University of Colorado Boulder. My extensive experience includes:
- Former String Program Lead and Head of Junior Strings Program at the Wollongong Conservatorium of Music, where I successfully built and led innovative string programs.
- Artistic Director of the APRA award-winning Steel City Strings and Principal Violist, showcasing my artistic leadership.
- An instrumental tutor across various prestigious institutions, reflecting my expertise in personalized instruction.
- Mentorship from world-renowned musicians, including the Takács Quartet, Geraldine Walther, Dr. Daniel Sweaney, Erika Eckert of the Cavani Quartet, and others such as Hilary Herndon, Victoria Chiang, Amadi Azikiwe, Ivo Jan Van Der Werff, David Holland, and Roger Benedict.

I provide inclusive, high-quality music education for all ages and backgrounds, fostering a welcoming and inspiring learning environment. I offer a variety of learning options, including individual violin and viola lessons in 30, 45, or 60-minute sessions, tailored to individual goals and schedules. Lessons run with the school term in packages of 9 lessons per term.
My Tutoring Approach and Class Structure
My approach to teaching is built on the core values of openness, mutual respect, imagination, innovation, belonging, connection, collaboration, and generosity. I believe in creating a supportive, inclusive, and motivating environment where students are encouraged to explore their musical potential and develop a lifelong love for music.

- Violin and Viola Lessons: Tailored for students of all ages and experience levels, from young beginners to advanced students and adult learners.
- Killalea Strings: A vibrant community group for adult string players (18 and over) across the Illawarra, Southern Highlands, and Shoalhaven, open to amateur to semi-professional musicians.
- Chamber Coaching: Designed for pre-formed groups looking to refine their ensemble playing.
- Group Lessons: For students of similar levels, offering a collaborative learning experience.
- Family Lessons: A unique opportunity for parents, siblings, or caregivers to learn music together, regardless of age or experience.
My overarching goal is to ensure that every individual feels valued and capable of success, fostering a love for music and personal growth.
