I teach GCSE and A Level geography, To begin with I like to discuss what the aims of the student are, whether that is to push them to an A/A* or level 9 grade or whether they need to understand the basics first before pushing them to their potential. I like to see what works with the student, being dyslexic I can help students figure out different ways to learn and remember their work. I like to use a variety of styles, past exam questions are key for me to use when tutoring, as well as planning exam questions with the student, for visual learners I use some YouTube videos, flash cards for understanding key concepts but I like to listen and talk to my tutee to work out a specific plan tailored to their needs.
When I was in A Levels, I spent once a week teaching a year 8 class. The main focus of year 8's was making them interested in the subject, and raising their confidence. During my long summer holiday away from University of Bristol, I have spent time doing work experience with a different year groups and spending time with students who have been struggling in lessons.
