My teaching methodology is oral based, as I believe the hardest and most important thing to focus on when trying to increase fluency and confidence in a language is oral skills. I know from personal experience that speaking in a foreign language can be very daunting, but I hope to build a relationship with students that will ensure they feel confident and comfortable in practising their spoken German. I also believe in student-led teaching, where students express their main goals at the beginning of a session and we attempt to work towards those goals together.
I am a German student at the University of Durham, with experience in teaching English language lessons to groups of refugee women as part of a charity programme. I've been learning German for eight years, and have a firm grasp of the language and grammar, as well as experience in helping younger students at school to improve their oral skills and knowledge of the German country and culture as part of a mentoring programme.
- I have A-Levels in German, History and English at A* grade
- I currently study Modern Foreign Languages at Durham University
- I was part of a mentoring scheme at school, which helped younger students with homework and exam questions
- I am currently part of a language education programme, which helps refugees to increase their English abilities. The programme focusses heavily on oral skills and small-group teaching, and therefore I have experience in leading smaller group language classes
