About Lara
I am 24 years old and currently writing my honors thesis in Asian studies at the University of Melbourne. I have been learning Japanese since the age of 12 and lived in Japan for 2 years as part of my undergraduate studies at the ANU. I find great fulfillment in sharing my passion for Japan with and helping others, especially through teaching.
In my spare time, I enjoy reading, hiking, tennis, yoga, and art. I love trying lots of different hobbies and learning about new ones too. Hopefully we can find some in common!

Lessons are 1 hour long and will be personalized to each student, depending on their individual goals and learning styles. I am passionate about fostering a mentor-style relationship with my students, such that our lessons can be a safe space wherein we nurture your learning in a way that feels fulfilling to you. I also prioritize a neuro-affirming approach in my teaching and hope that we can improve your Japanese but also your confidence.
I have experience tutoring secondary-level students and university-level peers in Japanese, as well as managing/mentoring high school-aged peers in a range of hospitality roles. I predominantly tutor primary and secondary aged students, however can also assist university students with intermediate/advanced Japanese.
