I am a Media & Journalism student who is willing to deliver engaging and informative lessons on web-development, specifically in HTML & CSS and how to manage your online content. I will present pupils with knowledge on websites and tools on how to craft your own, along with theme editing for online platforms such as Wordpress and other blog style content. We will start with the basics and then build up to display more sophisticated, unique and practical websites.
I have been building websites for friends, family, peers and other businesses since I started my degree and with the confidence gained since the start of my degree, I would to pass on this same knowledge to anyone who has in interest in building websites.
Blanc Modern Africa (Manhattan, New York) – Nov. 2016 till present
Position: Multimedia Editor
Bristol Film Festival (Bristol, UK) – Oct. 2016 till present
Position: Social Media Manager and Camerman
At this establishment, my task is to manage the Twitter account; making sure the festival keeps up an online presence to not only captivate a new audience, and keep up a relationship with those already on-board. Posting updates, what the audience can expect in the future and a consistent flow of content, helps to engage readers and always have something to refer to. Also, I utilise camera equipment at their events to gain audience feedback and to preview what to expect from events to upload on Twitter. The skills I learned in photography, videography and communications from my university course transferred to help with performing these tasks.
Resourcing Solutions (Twyford, UK) – Oct. 2014
Position: Communications Intern
At this recruitment consultancy, I was given the task of creating and pitching a presentation on how to use social networking, focusing on Twitter, to the recruitment team at Resourcing Solutions. Their tactics for reaching their clients and candidates were mainly through telephone and email. Although this is a direct method, social networking is a more efficient way of reaching much larger target audiences in a wider radius, in a shorter amount of time.
The media department gave me the task of briefing the recruitment team on how to use Twitter, not only for keeping positive business relationships with companies they already work with, but also connecting with more possible clients and candidates. I outlined the importance of; following & tweeting other companies in their sector, the use of hashtags, consistency with output, how to conduct your online profile, and basic functions such as what an actual tweet is, from character length to what should topics should be discussed or output for their desired target audience to see.
Ogilvy & Mather (Manhattan, New York) – Jul. 2013
Position: Summer Intern
I had an opportunity to work within the New York based advertising, marketing and public relations agency. I was shown all the steps to creating an advert; from sitting in with client meetings, to the selective process of which material produced that will be put forward for final edits. Alongside that, it was made clear how each advert was tailored to a specific audience; from how they would consume it, to the different voice-overs, and different viewing times to make sure they attracted their exact target audience, in the most efficient way.
This great experience in New York is what inspired me to pursue a career in marketing, communications, and media.
