University student giving maths, science and medical school application lessons to pupils in South Wales.

Methodology

I have achieved 10A* at GCSE and 4A*s at A-level in Maths, Chemistry, Biology and Physics. I am currently undertaking a medical degree at the University of Cambridge, having just completed my first year.

In my lessons, I like to focus on areas the student is struggling with, rather than teaching them the whole syllabus. So, my first lesson will involve an overview of the course, and I will identify key areas the student is struggling on, and will explore each of these problems in the subsequent lessons. I would be keen to do online tuition as I am a student and thus cannot guarantee to be in one location for a long period of time.

Background

I have been giving private lessons for three years and I am currently tutoring two GCSE level students in chemistry. I have experience teaching all three sciences and maths at a GCSE level to students in the past. All my students have exceeded or met their target grades.

Skills
I am a qualified Emergency First Responder and have completed a course in Paediatric Basic Life Support. I am very organised and have good time management, with a passion for working with people. I speak good French and German and am proficient with technology. I am efficient, loyal, and enthusiastic in everything I do. I am extremely supportive of others and have very good conversational skills, which is why I would excel in a job where I can interact with people. I also have held a full UK driving licence for the past year with no points.

Hobbies
Sport - At University, I row competitively for my college, which not only keeps me fit but has given me great teamwork skills. Previously, I swam competitively to a high level. I also enjoy cycling and walking. Another interest of mine is scuba diving, and I am a certified PADI Rescue Diver.
Music - I have a Diploma in Keyboard and have achieved Grade 7 Saxophone.
DofE - I have completed my Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award, through which I developed important skills such as determination and leadership.

Charity Work
I am a very keen supporter of many charities including Operation Christmas Child, The Alzheimer’s Society and The British Heart Foundation. I have taken part in Homeless sleep-outs, sponsored runs and organised cake sales for these charities and others. Earier this year, I raised £500 for charity by completing a ‘Jailbreak’.

Voluntary work
I volunteer at a Brownies group, which I did weekly for almost four years and have been returning during my University holidays.  I have also completed a year-long placement volunteering at the Day Unit of Severn Hospice, and worked in a charity shop for over a year.

Experience
ASDA (October 2014 - Present) - Counters colleague - I work here part-time during sixth form, and am now a seasonal colleague so serve customers there when I am home over the holidays.
