About Franceska

I am a student about to commence a 3 year Law LLB at the university of Bristol from September 2019 - having taken a year out after A Levels for travel, volunteering and securing funds for university.
My experience in education has been that of a high pressured academic background (having gone to a very competitive girls' school), but what that has taught me is the need to bring about balance in one's week (for the sake of personal sanity!) and so I enjoy volunteering with dogs and working summer jobs as an assistant kayaker. My experience in this type of education has taught me how to maintain a positive and relatively stress free attitude to work and to always strive to the best of one's abilities.
I've been fortunate enough to spend time in teaching roles in a school in Zambia as well as leading the Law society for younger years and stage management teams for theatre productions in Sixth Form as well as teaching all ages at the outdoor activity centre in Hillingdon, and the accumulation of all these experiences has created the ambitious but understanding mindset I apply in my tutoring lessons.

The fundamental essence of a good lesson is creating a desire in the student to seek out the answers instead of getting overwhelmed by the question and this can be done by breaking down any complications in the question into simple applicable formulas which will in turn boost the student's confidence in their abilities to find and secure answers confidently. Whether it be tackling complicated English texts by first focusing on how to identify different literary techniques and making our own examples, to understanding detailed biological processes by recreating real life diagrams of chemicals as synonymous travelers in the body; there is always a way to break down the pressure of a seemingly large chunk of information into small manageable steps that can be recalled through visually stimulating and memorable lessons.

With an arsenal of technological diagrams, real life examples and explanatory videos across the internet, there are so many tools in helping to make information relatable and most importantly interesting. The pressures in today's society to be the top of the bunch when pitted against increasingly hard standards is something all children will continue to face, and so understanding that pressure while exploring ways to deal with it step by step both metaphorically and question by question is the objective I would bring to every lesson.

I believe in both measurable standards of progress, in forms of topic tests and opportunities for students to relay back information in their own explanations, as well as age appropriate goals and rewards to keep interests peaked - such as filling a pie chart diagram of topics to earn a yummy reward as one of my favourite examples from my own time in primary school. For older ages, as someone who has experienced the stress and worry of not knowing whether I am well prepared enough for exams or not, providing every resource of measurability, past paper comparison and examiner report analysis is key to installing confidence and my own first hand experience of dealing with seemingly taunting tasks can account to the full proof nature of this.
