About Alison
I've been teaching for over 25 years, and keep myself up to date with regular vocational training. I am a member of the European String Teachers Association. I have a DBS equivalent certificate from Scotland where I lived previously and am currently waiting for my new DBS to arrive. I also have a lot of playing experience, in a variety of orchestras and for contemporary and traditional dancers.

Lessons are individual or in small groups, for 30 or 45 minutes. I have some student instruments for hire in the early stages. I help exam students to do well whether beginner or advanced and I also teach students who play purely for pleasure, and take the learning in new interesting directions. Playing a musical instrument has lifelong benefits and I work closely with students and families to understand their motivation and aims. There is no need to come from a musical family: all that's needed is an interest in playing the instrument and the motivation to work at it. Your first lesson is free, for both of us to see how we get on.
