About JAMES
I've been teaching for almost 25 years. I've taught all levels of high school, but now teach exclusively freshmen. Outside of school, I am an active outdoorsman and still race my mountain bike, run up mountains, ski, hunt, fish... pretty much if it's outside, I like it.

Reading and writing are infinitely personalizable, so it depends on the skills you're looking to develop. For literature, I've always leaned heavily on a Humanities approach to literature, pushing kids to reflect on what this literature says about them individually and us as human beings.
