About Valerie
Have you considered how a diagnostic assessment might clarify your path forward? Before we set a practice plan, we examine your current bowing technique and left hand agility. I incorporate double stops and scale work to build physical ease.
You receive guidance on ABRSM or Trinity exam prep if that is your aim. We treat music theory as a tool for deeper expression. Vibrato and intonation are refined through ear training and precise drills.
My background allows for adjustments between classical repertoire and fiddle styles. Everything progresses at a measured and comfortable pace.

Teaching violin feels like a deliberate craft requiring patience and focus. I prioritize clarity and movement for intermediate learners and teens. Having performed across Canada for 13 years, I offer a blend of classical precision and folk spontaneity. My BMus from The Glenn Gould School informs how I approach each student.
Over the last 13 years, I have seen many hobbyists find their voice through the strings. I currently work with a steady group of dedicated players. Balancing the rigors of the concert hall with the joy of folk music keeps my own practice grounded.
