About Val
I am a violin teacher with over 10 years of teaching experience and a Bachelor of Music Performance from Washington State University (USA). I teach children, teenagers and adults of all abilities, from complete beginners to advanced students, including ABRSM exam preparation.
Every lesson is tailored to each student’s goals, learning style and pace. My teaching style is patient, structured and encouraging, with a strong focus on building confidence, solid technique and a genuine enjoyment of music. Whether you are learning for fun, preparing for an exam or returning to the violin after many years, I will support you every step of the way.
Lessons are available online or in my dedicated home teaching studio in Fleet. I teach in English, Cantonese and Mandarin, and welcome students of all backgrounds.

I primarily use the Suzuki Method to develop musicality, listening skills and confidence, while incorporating scales and technical exercises to build a strong foundation in intonation, tone and finger technique. As students progress, I introduce sight-reading exercises to help them become independent musicians who can confidently read and learn new music on their own. Music theory is integrated naturally into each lesson and taught using age-appropriate methods, making it engaging and easy to understand.
